Rio de Janeiro Brazil Museums - If during the day, you have soaked in enough
rays to last you, you may want to spend the day wandering about a museum. Many
museums are open from 10 or 11 to 5 or 6 (they may stay open later one night a
week). Some museums are only open in the afternoon and also keep in mind that
many are closed on Monday. Always check ahead or you’ll be missing out on the
Carmen Miranda Museum, where you can view memorabilia, posters, music and

When you visit this museum, you will be able to browse about works created by
great artists, such as Picasso, Debret, Dali, Braque, Degas, Matisse and Monet.
An added feature: a beautiful, shaded, peaceful garden, which offers an
extraordinary view of the city. Admission to this attraction is free.

Inspired by the Louvre, this is considered the main fine arts museum within Rio.
An interesting set of sculptures and samples of African art await your curious
eyes.

If you’ve never had the chance to experience naïve art, this is the largest and
most complete collection in the world. Guided tours are available in English,
French, Spanish and Italian.

When you visit this museum, you will set foot in the same place which served as
home to Brazilian presidents from 1896 to 1954. When you choose to browse the
permanent exhibition, you have the option of experiencing an audio tour, offered
in English and Spanish.

Here you will find a collection displaying cooking utensils, tools, musical
instruments, costumes, as well as religious artifacts representing past
inhabitants of Rio. Don’t forget to check out the store in the museum which

Come to this museum which is located at the very southern tip of Parque do
Flamengo. Here you will be able to enjoy the sight of that infamous fruity
headdress Carmen Miranda used to wear during performances. Come and experience
paraphernalia dealing with the great performer, as well as exquisite costumes.
Check out the gift shop to purchase some cool posters, postcards, T-shirts and
music.
